| Abstract: | The article deals with the party system of modern Italy. At the beginning of the 1990's considerable changes took place which led to the appearance of some new parties. The old ones were either reformed or disappeared. Today there are more than 20 parties in Italy. The majority is united into two blocs: “The House of Freedom” with the ruling party “Forwards Italy” the head of which is the prime-minister S. Berlusconi, and “The Olive Tree”in which 2 parties play major role. They are “Democrats of the Left” and “The Camomile”. There are also some small parties playing rather big part. |
