Abstract: The article is devoted to an actual problem of academic self-concept development in children of primary school. The definition of self-concept and basic theoretical ideas about this category are given. The significant issues and tendencies of academic self-concept in 6-7 year-old children are presented. The main characteristics of academic self-concept in primary school children from fslfnily and orphanage are described in this article. The article gives a comparative analysis of academic self-concept developing in children from family and orphanage. Gender differences of the given phenomenon are also considered.
